Rickards was cast in March 2014, to play Kristen Rose - the sister to Dakota (Haley Ramm) and the central character in Cowgirls 'n Angels. Film premiered in 2014 at Dallas International Film Festival. In 2015, she had a supporting role in her role in the Oscar Nominated Film Brooklyn. She was also in Slumber, a 2016 film starring Darby Stanley as well as Meaghan Rath. Los Angeles was the location for the filming which took place in May 2016. Axis is the second film that she appeared in. It won the prize for exceptional achievement in feature film at the Newport Beach Film Festival. She was featured as a super-hero in a short film Sidekick produced by Arrowverse ex-member Jeff Cassidy. in 2017, the actress played in Funny Story. It was a runner in the Slamdance Film Festival's Beyond programme in January 2018.[21[21] It won the Stolman Award for the most outstanding American independent film in the Sonoma International Film Festival in the year 2018. It also won the audience prize at the Vero Wine and Film Festival to the film with the highest score; 24] Best feature at Santorini Film Festival.[25] And the Grand Jury Prize from the Barcelona Film Festival. Rickards was awarded the top actress award at the Southampton International Film Festival. Todd Wolfe wrote and directed the documentary We Need to Talk in May 2019 with James Maslow. The film was selected for the FirstGlance Film Festival, held in Philadelphia on November 28, 2020, and Rickards won best actress.
