Dolly Parton was born on the 19th of January 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. She grew up with 12 other children. The vivid imagination of her mother allowed her to escape life's harsh reality. life. Before she learned to write or read, she had already composed her own music. The first time she picked up a guitar was when she was 8 and started singing at an Knoxville Tenn radio station at the age of 11. That same year she made her debut recording for Gold Band Records a tiny independent label. In high school she was able to establish herself within the school community but her ambition was bigger. After she finished her high school, in 1964 she moved to Nashville. Her first charting hits for Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. Porter Wagoner began looking for female singers to join his television show that was syndicated around the exact at the same time. Parton got her first gig in 1967 and signed by RCA Records by 1968, and was a part of the Grand Ole Opry. In 1974, she quit Wagoner's show due to the commercial success of her solo songs like Joshua Coats of Many Colors or Jolene was way ahead of their joint release.
